PIR Day Camp: Black History of Science

In honor of Black History month, we'll be learning about BIPOC scientists and inventors thorough stories, experiments & activities.
In the morning, we will focus in particular on contributions to NASA and space exploration, after which we will use our STEAMlab’s Glowforge laser printer to bring our own drawings of space rockets to life, and embed a message in binary code! After lunch and play time on the museum floor, we will shift our focus to the contributions of influential African American engineers and inventors, and learn how to use the engineering design cycle to build and race our own wind-powered toy cars.
